Process Book - Current (25.04.2012)

We Have Things To Do: Paper Prototype

This week I constructed a paper prototype of what the final book is going to look like. The size of the packaging is 5in x 5in and the books are 4in x 4in. All five books are encased in the white card stock box along with the map of all the stories. That white Box is then tucked into the brown paper bag. The reasoning for this is because I think the theme of this piece is people running around and bumping into one another so I tried to think of how the packaging could convey the feeling of running an errand or being in a hurry.

Block Party Final Project - Progress so Far

So, the last time I updated you guys on my status, I had mentioned that I stripped the panels on my other project I was going to recycle for the usage of this one. Well, I've cut my project down in size, but I made a mistake with one of the panels, and then realized the whole thing needed to be smaller. I'm basically going to spend the entire weekend trying to figure out how to fix my mistake. I've started building the compartment for the pull out mat but it's having trouble sticking to the board because I couldn't remove the tissue paper. I have a spare poster board in case of back up.

dataCoach: Updated Icons and Interactions!

A few new updates on the functions of the app!

The Game Clock.

On the data collection side, I added in the ability to manually adjust the clock time in the event of missing a few minutes, or forgetting to stop the clock and needing to dial it back a few seconds.

New Icons for Field Markers

On the visualization side, I needed to address the issue of the icons on the field relating to the icons in the bar chart areas. Instead of the vague initials and/or dots I had in the last round, I created simplified versions of each stat's logo that could be overlaid on a circle of the team's color. The relationship between the two is much better now! Still some room for improvement on the overall interactions between various parts of the screen, but users have found it much easier to cognitively link the stats with the new icons.

MET map Round 2

There are couple of details changes after the mid-term
...
1. The size of the map:
I made it as same as the size of the A3 paper
2. The size of the semi circle cut out:
I made it smaller as similar to the size of a normal human thumb
3. The folding method of the map is different from last time:
It is more "solid" and less loose now
4. The name of a particular gallery is now on the color blocks
instead of having another chart indicator to prevent color matching problems
5. The back of the folding photo collages have the same color as the color block
